Bridge Bill Could Require States to Address Corrosion

The Bridge Life Extension Act of 2009 (H.R. 1682), introduced in the House by Rep. Michael Conaway (Tex.), would require states participating in federal highway funding to have a bridge management system that addresses corrosion. In its preamble, the bill site a report estimating that bridge corrosion costs $8.3 billion annually in the United States.
