Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments to be Debated in Senate
The Senate has scheduled debate on the Perchlorate Monitoring and Right-to-Know Act of 2007 (S. 24) and the Protecting Pregnant Women and Children from Perchlorate Act of 2007 (S. 150). It is also taking up the Toxic Chemical Expose (TCE) Reduction Act of 2007 (S. 1911).The bills would modify the Safe Drinking Water Act to require specific monitoring and reporting related to perchlorate and trichloroethylene with the stated intention of protecting infants, pregnant women and other susceptible groups.
The Small Community Drinking Water Funding Act (S. 1933) is also scheduled for debates. The bill provides programs and funding for financial assistance to small drinking water systems.

Senate to Debate Sewer Overflow Bill
The Senate has scheduled debate on the Sewage Overflow Right-to-Know Act (S. 2080). The bill would require wastewater systems to notify the public within 24 hours of a sanitary sewer overflow. A similar bill has passed the House of Representatives.
