House Committee Requests Report on Establishing a Clean Water Trust Fund
The House of Representatives’ Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has sent a request to the General Accountability Office for a report on a clean water trust fund. The fund could potentially provide a source of ongoing funding for water infrastructure programs. The estimated need for drinking water and wastewater improvement in the U.S. over the next 20 years are as high as $500 billion. The committee has asked for the report to be completed by January 15, 2009. You can see a copy of the committee’s request here.
