Congress Debates Infrastructure, Jobs Bills

Two similar bills with very similar are being brought up for debate in the House of Representatives. The first is the American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act of 2012 (H.R. 7). It is mostly a reauthorization of transportation programs. As usual, it is reauthorization with plenty of tweaking. Some groups have expressed disapproval of changes that would weaken or reduce funding to public transit program.

The American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Financing Act of 2012 (H.R. 3864) extends taxes and authorizations related to the Highway Trust Fund. It also shuffles some money into the fund that might have gone elsewhere.
