The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced $60 million in grants to 19 states and a U.S. territory to improve ferry service. The funding comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which provides the $60 million to the Federal Highway Administration’s Ferry Boat Discretionary program.
Two facilities in Missouri received grants. The Dorena-Hickman Ferry, in Mississippi County, received $957,500 to purchase a new ferry that can accommodate larger vehicles. The Canton Ferry, in Lewis County, received $188,000 to improve the ramps and docks.
