Bill Introduced to Consider High Speed Rail Projects
Rep. John L. Micah (Florida) has introduced a bill (H.R. 5644) for the consideration and prioritization of high-speed rail projects. One of these projects would be a Washington, DC, to New York, NY. The bill makes provision for five other proposals. The bill does not provide for funding of the projects. Instead, it provides a method of considering proposals and prioritizing options leading to a report to Congress by the Secretary of Transportation. Presumably, Congress could consider further action on the projects.
